Product page localization checklist: what a complete translation requires

A translated headline on an otherwise English page is not localization. Customers notice mixed-language buttons, FAQs and trust messages immediately.

Translate the whole customer decision

Localize the value proposition, benefits, calls to action, FAQs and supporting labels together. Keep product names or technical terms unchanged only when that is intentional.

Separate localized URLs for search

If organic search matters, each language needs a crawlable URL, a self-referencing canonical and reciprocal hreflang links. Cookie-only language switching does not give search engines a stable version to index.

Review claims and local expectations

Measurement units, delivery language, guarantees and regulated claims can require more than translation. A native reviewer should check important launches.

  • Terminology
  • Tone and formality
  • Units and currency context
  • Legal or health claims

Keep language boundaries clean

Do not index thin pages where only navigation changes language. The main content should be genuinely translated and equivalent in purpose to its alternate version.
