How to add sections to a Shopify product page

Adding a section takes a minute. The part that trips people up is that sections belong to templates, not to individual products — and that detail decides how many products will show whatever you add.

The one-minute version

Open Online Store > Themes > Customize. In the page selector at the top, choose Products and the product template. Click Add section in the left sidebar, pick one from your theme or from an installed app, drag it into position and save.

  • Online Store > Themes > Customize
  • Page selector > Products > product template
  • Add section > choose > drag > save

The section appears on every product using that template

A section added to a template shows on all products assigned to it. Usually that is exactly what you want — a consistent shipping block or FAQ across the catalogue. When it is not, don't fight the template: make another one.

Only one product? Use a dedicated template

Duplicate the product template, add the section there, and assign that template to the product from its admin page (the Theme template field). The section now exists on that product alone, and the rest of the catalogue stays untouched.

Sections, blocks, and where apps fit

Full-width parts of the page are sections; the smaller elements inside them are blocks. Installed apps can add app blocks inside the theme's product section — review widgets, size guides, buy buttons. If an app's element does not appear after you enable it, check two things: that the block was actually added in the editor, and that the theme you edited is the one currently published.

Which sections earn their place on a product page

More sections is not the goal; answering the buyer's next question is. The ones that usually pay for their space:

If writing all of that for every product is the bottleneck, Buildora generates these sections with product-specific content and publishes them as editable theme sections, so you can keep adjusting them with everything described above.

  • An FAQ close to the decision point
  • Shipping and returns, stated plainly
  • Evidence you can actually back
